Inter are looking to keep their midfield refreshed during the summer transfer window, with Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi a key part of their plans.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 22-year-old is the major target as the club plan for what their midfield will look like next campaign onwards.

The starting midfielders Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Marcelo Brozovic will hardly be easily dislodged at the Nerazzurri, but they are also keeping in mind the need for sufficient depth in the positions.

Matias Vecino is likely to leave at the end of his contract in the summer, and he could be followed by Arturo Vidal out the exit door should the club exercise an option to terminate the Chilean’s contract a year early.

Meanwhile, Roberto Gagliardini is the subject of interest from a number of clubs, but the Nerazzurri are inclined to keep the 27-year-old, and the role of Stefano Sensi in the team will also be evaluated based on his loan spell with Sampdoria.

Apart from these, however, the signing of Frattesi is seen as a vital part of the plan to keep the level of quality up in the centre of the park overall.
