Inter defender Milan Skriniar feels that he and his teammates showed what they are truly capable of with their win against Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals yesterday evening.
Speaking to InterTV following the match, the Slovak defender emphasized that the team gave a good account of themselves to make it to the semi-finals against a tough Giallorossi side.
The Nerazzurri will have been hoping for a quick response following Saturday’s disappointing derby defeat against AC Milan, and they got it in the form of a convincing victory over Roma.
Inter’s schedule doesn’t get any easier, with the likes of Napoli and Liverpool soon to come, but they will feel that with their 2-0 defeat of the Giallorossi they showed that they have what it takes for these challenges.
“The team came into this prepared as always, we lost a match but today we saw the real Inter once again right away,” Skriniar said. “Now we’re expecting some tough matches, but we always go into them ready. We will give our all for the shirt.”
Of his goalline clearance against the Giallorossi, albeit from a shot from an offside position, the defender said that “I’m glad I managed to make that clearance even though it was offside in the end.”
“In the end the team got back to winning and that was our objective,” he stressed.
He also noted that “Today I changed my role, but in I can play on the right, left, or in the middle of the defense. I can play wherever the coach needs me to, I always try to help the team.”
“Roma’s forwards are good,” he added, “they created some danger, too but I’m happy to have prevented them from scoring.”
