Italian stadiums could be allowed to welcome a 75% capacity crowd again by the end of February, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, an important step forwards towards the total reopening of stadiums could be about to take place.

A joint note from the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza and the Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali was given to the Constitutional Affairs Commission in the Senate which aimed to shorten the time for the return to 75% capacity stadiums.

The drop from 75% to 50% capacity was made in January as a reaction to the evergrowing Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Crowds were briefly dropped to 5000 spectators but have since returned to 50% capacity. The decision is set to be taken on 22 February so that would mean that on the weekend of 26 and 27 February, crowds in Serie A will be able to return to 75% capacity.
