New Inter defender Robin Gosens has said he wants to be like fellow former German Inter defender Andreas Brehme and make history with the club, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sport Mediaset, via FCInternews, the former Atalanta man showed how excited he is to get started with Inter once he recovers from his injury, citing the call he got from former Inter player Andreas Brehme.

“He called me a few days ago and told me: ‘how nice that you are at Inter’. He wished me the best. Becoming like him is my ambition, I want to write history.”

Andreas Brehme won Serie A in the 1988/89 season whilst also winning a Supercoppa and a UEFA Cup with Inter.

Robin Gosens has arrived at Inter with a serious injury but he hoped to be fit by the end of February. He says this is the first major injury he has had so it has been difficult.

“It was very difficult, especially because I have never had serious injuries in my career. After moving to Inter Milan I have even more desire to return to the field, I hope I’m close to a return.”

The German international clearly wants to win the Scudetto with Inter this season but he is also aware of how tight the top of the table is.

“We are Inter, we absolutely want to win. The championship is balanced, we saw in the derby, but here I found a strong and beautiful environment, a united group.”
