New Inter defender Robin Gosens has said that whilst he is fit again he does not want to put a timeframe in his return from injury, according to a report in the German broadcast media today.
Speaking during an interview with Sky Deutschland, via FCInternews, Robin Gosens explained that he is now very fit again but he is lacking the final yard of pace which he can only get from playing matches on the pitch.
“I’m very, very fit again. Of course, in the end I lack the pace, but I can only reach it by finding minutes on the pitch. But I feel very good and well prepared.”
He then stressed that he does not want to say to fans and coaches that he will be back on a specific day and then not be able to keep that promise.
“But I don’t want to say, ‘Okay, listen, I’ll be back next Wednesday! It is shortly, but I don’t know exactly how many days at the moment.”
He was asked whether he was afraid when he picked up the injury at the beginning of the season when he was still an Atalanta player.
The German international explained that he was not scared but he knew he had just had two excellent seasons.
“Maybe fear is not the right word. I mean, I came from two exceptional seasons, I managed to earn a place in the national team. Then there was this bang with the injury and you remain stationary for four months.
“Competition never sleeps. The national team is top-notch. And every game I don’t play in is obviously good for Christian Günter. Of course I don’t blame him for all this, but of course I want to keep playing my cards and consequently it’s just about being able to have performance. And unfortunately I haven’t been able to get them in the last four months.”
