Inter defender Milan Skriniar has said that the Inter players were surprised when Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool the lead at San Siro on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking to Mediaset Infinity after the 2-0 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side, via FCInternews, Milan Skriniar explained how the team were surprised to fall behind in the 75th minute as they had been playing very well up to that point.
“Today we were surprised after the goal because we had a very good game up to there. If you don’t score against this team, in the end, you pay for it.”
When asked what his biggest regret from the game was, Milan Skriniar said it was the fact that the Nerazzurri created so much but lost to two set pieces.
“Surely the fact that we have created so much, but two dead balls decided the game.”
It is clear that despite the obvious disappointment of the 2-0 loss to Liverpool, Milan Skriniar is focusing on the Serie A match against Sassuolo on Sunday night and the title race that that game is crucial for.
“I hope there isn’t a backlash, let’s get our heads up straight away because there’s a lot of games coming up. Let’s get ready well for Sassuolo and for the return leg.”
Inter will be hoping to have Alessandro Bastoni available if his ban is shortened.
