Inter striker Edin Dzeko has said that the team will now focus on Serie A and see what happens when they travel to Liverpool, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the match to Mediaset Infinity, via FCInternews, the Bosnian forward explained that Inter know they gave everything during the 2-0 defeat and will now focus on the Serie A title race until the second leg comes along in Liverpool.

“We are aware that we have given everything, now we focus on the championship and look forward to what will happen in a few weeks in Liverpool.”

Edin Dzeko did not hold back in his praise of Liverpool as a team but also made it clear that Inter deserved more from the game than what they got.

The Nerazzurri were very impressive for 75 minutes but conceded two goals late on after missing many of their own chances.

“We knew the strength of the opponent, they are one of the best teams in Europe. We conceded few chances. We’re sorry to lose like this because we deserved more.

“For 75 minutes we pressed Liverpool across the board and played well. With a goal the match would have gone in another direction and would have given us more confidence; instead, they scored.”

The goals for Liverpool were scored by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the 75th and 82nd minutes.

Inter will face Sassuolo on Sunday evening to try and bounce back.
