Former Genoa and AC Milan goalkeeper Simone Braglia has said that Inter’s Samir Handanovic was slow to react to Roberto Firmino’s header in the loss against Liverpool, according to a report in the Italian media.
Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, Simone Braglia had some criticism for Inter’s Slovenian goalkeeper for his efforts to stop Roberto Firmino from opening the scoring on Wednesday night.
“On the first goal he did not seem to react very well to the header. He appeared very slow, but reactions have always been his strong point.
“He has had several drops in the season, he conceded a goal on Wednesday that could have been avoidable but Handanovic’s first round was highly positive. He can be blamed for some goals, where he was not as reactive as in the past.”
Inter had produced a very good display against Liverpool at San Siro in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie and had looked the more likely to score in the second half of the match.
They then fell 1-0 down when Roberto Firmino’s header from a corner in the 75th minute dropped in at the far post. Samir Handanovic had made a move towards his near post which left half the goal open.
Mohamed Salah soon added a second to make it 2-0.
