Inter are aiming to build their attack around Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca for the long term once they complete his signing in the summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri hope to sign the 23-year-old to initially deputize for Edin Dzeko before taking over in the long term.

Dzeko has been an important player in attack for the Nerazzurri this season, with the Bosnian’s combination of strength, technicality, and passing making him a focal point leading the line.

However, the former Roma striker turns 36 next month and can hardly be relied on in the long term, so if the team wish to keep playing the same way then they will need to bring in a player who can replace his characteristics.

Scamacca is widely linked as a player who the Nerazzurri will move for in the summer, and the Neroverdi striker has shown a similar profile to the Bosnian as well as a significant leap in quality this season, not to mention a propensity for scoring at the San Siro.

The 23-year-old will likely be the understudy to Dzeko in his first season with Inter, with the Bosnian in the final year of his contract, and then from then on the club are betting on him to take over in the long term.
