Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has spoken out about Carlo Bonomi’s decision not to run for the presidency of the Lega Calcio, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As has been reported by FCInternews, Inter sporting CEO Beppe Marotta submitted a short statement to the press agency ANSA earlier on Thursday sharing his thoughts on Carlo Bonomi’s decision.
He starts the statement by saying that the group understand Carlo Bonomi’s decision to focus on other professional areas that he is involved in at such an important time.
“We learned from President Bonomi that he renounced the candidacy for the presidency of the Lega Calcio. We perfectly understand the reasons that led to his choice of giving priority to total commitment to defending the interests of the Italian industrial system in such a delicate moment.”
Beppe Marotta then went on to say that Lega Calcio’s priority will be finding a new candidate who is of a similar profile to Carlo Bonomi in order to help develop the sector.
“We remain convinced that President Bonomi could represent the ideal figure to lead the Lega Calcio in constructive dialogue with the government, combining an economic vision of the system and knowledge of the specific needs of the football industry.
“Our priority now remains to converge on a profile that can ensure the same skills, which are essential to guarantee the necessary development for our sector.”
Inter’s Beppe Marotta was very recently awarded a new contract by Inter President Steven Zhang that will keep him with the Nerazzurri in his current role until at least 2025.
