Inter coach Simone Inzaghi felt his side were missing some luck as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Genoa in Serie A yesterday, but urged calmness.

The Nerazzurri’s poor form continued as they laboured at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, being unable to find a way past their relegation-threatened hosts and seeing their winless streak extend to four games.

In an interview with Inter TV after the game, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, the former Lazio tactician felt that the performance needed one spark to get the team going again.

“What was missing tonight? The episode was missing to get the game going, between Sassuolo and Genoa we had 40 shots on goal and we didn’t manage to score,” Inzaghi claimed.

“It’s a moment in which we have to do more because we can’t win, but today we built a lot and conceded little. We deserved more, but that’s the way it went today.”

Inter improved in the second half but found little joy in front of goal, prompting Inzaghi to urge his team not to lose their focus but to instead try to rediscover their spark.

“We are just missing a victory, we would surely have deserved it tonight for what we did. We had a great desire to return to the top with our wonderful fans who have encouraged us from start to finish tonight as well. We must not get anxious. but stay calm and go back to doing what we did well before.”

The Nerazzurri now turn their attention to the Coppa Italia semi-final clash against rivals AC Milan on Tuesday, and Inzaghi was keen to recover form and fitness ahead of the game.

“On Tuesday we have the semi-final, it’s an important match and we care a lot about it. We have to be good at recovering physical and mental strength in view of this match against Milan,” he added.
