Italian journalist Fabio Ravezzani believes that Inter’s lack of efficiency in front of goal was on full display in their frustrating 0-0 draw away to Genoa yesterday evening in Serie A.

Tweeting after the match, the journalist highlighted that the Nerazzurri had clearly dominated the shot count, but that they paid for their inability to be really ruthless about taking their chances to drop points yet again.

Inter enjoyed nearly three quarters of possession against the Griffone, and they spent the match probing around trying to find scoring chances, whilst the home side’s threat on the counter mainly looked to be in the opening stages of the match.

However, for all of this territorial control, Inter never really showed that they could turn any of their brighter moments into a goal, as they settled for shots from distance or efforts in a crowded penalty area.

For Ravezzani, this demonstrated that the Nerazzurri are lacking a cutting edge when faced with defensively organized opposition.

Inter had nineteen shots on goal, Genoa had eight,” he wrote. “This figure alone is enough to understand that the real problem with this team is in attack.”

He went on that “If they don’t unlock it then they’re in trouble. Suffice it to say that, incredibly, Correa has the best ratio of goals for his time on the pitch at this point.”
