Inter have been in the midst of their worst period of form of the season, and part of the reason for this looks to be the inadequacy of the contributions from squad players.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri must get more out of players from their bench and those rotated into the starting eleven to pick themselves up.

Even Inter’s regular starters have found themselves dropping off a bit in recent matches with a couple exceptions, but the Gazzetta notes that performances from players like Federico Dimarco, Roberto Gagliardini, and Matias Vecino have especially not let the team be at their best.

The newspaper also notes that Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, two players who have achieved massive amounts in the game and are the Nerazzurri’s two highest earners, have also been very erratic in their form.

Sanchez in particular is singled out as having had a mostly quiet and ineffective month despite having seemingly earned a regular starting spot with his displays and goals in cup competitions.

The 33-year-old has instead failed to make an impact in his starts, playing from the start against both Sassuolo and Genoa in the team’s past two matches, and the Gazzetta suggests that he may be best used off the bench.

The entire team must again find the right balance to utilizing players in the squad correctly to be at their best on a consistent basis, and must also hope that the levels of these squad players’ performances rise.
