Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has not been in good form in front of goal over the past couple months, though one major factor in this is the fact that he has rarely played entire matches.

This is highlighted by Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who note that the only time that the Argentine has featured for the full ninety minutes of a Serie A match was in the loss to Sassuolo last weekend.

Martinez has found the back of the net only once since December 17, and this was from the penalty spot, so there would appear to be little doubt that his form has hit a difficult period.

However, part of the issue would appear to relate to mentality and confidence, with the player missing the edge in front of goal that can come from knowing that he is in form and scoring at his best.

Accordingly, getting the striker back to full confidence will be key to getting his form back, and with it, improving the form of the team as a whole.

This is not easy, however, in spite of the clear signals from the club that they still have faith in the 24-year-old, but perhaps one thing that will help him is by showing their trust in him to play full matches rather than substituting him or restricting him to appearances from the bench.
