Inter new boy Robin Gosens’s return to the team from injury may not have come a moment too soon for the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the German will have an important role to play in the team, perhaps moreso than he was expecting.

Gosens was always expected to make his return from a long-term injury around the end of February, and when he joined Inter during the January transfer window he was well aware that he’d miss their run of matches during February.

However, the 27-year-old will have had reason to look at the team’s form and believe that he would be able to be gradually blooded into a team who were on track to win the Scudetto, gradually finding his feet in the team alternating with Ivan Perisic on the left.

Instead, Gosens finds himself in a situation where the entire team looks to be flagging in terms of their energy levels and athleticism just as he makes his return to the pitch.

With the German having completed a long recovery from injury stretching back to his final few months at Atalanta, he could be a fresh player for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi to inject into his team.
