Former Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni has said that Inter still have the strongest squad in the Serie A title race but AC Milan are playing the best football right now, according to a report in the Italian print media today.
Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, Alberto Zaccheroni shared some of his thoughts on the state of the title race in Serie A.
He clearly thinks AC Milan are performing the best right now but backs Inter as the strongest side of all the challengers.
“Milan in terms of the squad are playing well compared to the others, they are the ones who play the best football, even if the strongest in terms of the squad remains Inter, for me.”
For many weeks the title race in Serie A has looked to be between three teams, Inter, AC Milan, and Napoli. Slip-ups in form from those three league leaders as well as some newfound consistency from Max Allegri’s Juventus side means they are now viewed as part of the race as well.
Alberto Zaccheroni thinks that Inter, AC Milan and Napoli have made a big mistake in letting Juventus back into the race.
“And I don’t mind Juventus either. The rivals of the Bianconeri have made a mistake in letting Allegri’s team back in the running. Juve keep a low profile like when they won.
“All three lead teams had a decline. It will be a second round to enjoy, we will see some good performances, the quality is there. And everything can be resolved by a fine points margin.”
