Inter are hoping to have striker Lautaro Martinez available as part of the squad in training during the international break so that he can rest and get to his best form during the run-in of the season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are attempting to convince the Argentine national team not to call him up for the break.

Convincing the Albiceleste not to include Martinez in their squad for their upcoming fixtures could be difficult, given that the 24-year-old is also an important player for his country as he is for his club.

The Nerazzurri are aiming to be diplomatic in their request to the Argentine team, especially given that they do not necessarily have to win their matches during the break as they have already qualified for the World Cup.

Inter feel that having the time off to train, rest, and reach his best form would benefit not only Martinez’s performances for his club during the run-in, but also his performances at international level.
