Inter are planning to ask the Argentine national team not to call up striker Lautaro Martinez during the upcoming international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are hoping that the striker can instead work in training during the break to keep getting back to his consistent best.

The Argentine national team do not strictly need to win any of their upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures as they have already qualified for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

However, the Albiceleste will still be hoping to put in a good showing to find momentum and form in their matches against Venezuela and Ecuador on the 26th and the 30th of March respectively.

The Nerazzurri are hoping that Argentina will be amenable to their suggestion of giving Martinez the duration of the international break off, nevertheless, as they feel that a break from the relentless fixture schedule could benefit his form for both club and country.
