Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez could be a perfect signing to add experience and quality to Inter’s attack next season, according to Italian media.
This from today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the Uruguayan could be the right target and perfect for Simone Inzaghi’s system if they can agree on wages with him.
The Nerazzurri are reportedly looking to sign an experienced and low-cost attacker over the summer in addition to making an investment in a younger profile.
Suarez has been linked, as have Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani and Napoli’s Dries Mertens.
For the Gazzetta, Suarez would be the most impactful signing out of the trio, with the newspaper highlighting the 35-year-old’s proven ability to lead the line on his own or play in a strike partnership.
Suarez has been phased out of Atletico’s starting eleven in recent weeks, and despite having still scored eleven goals for the Colchoneros this season across all competitions, he looks to be headed for the exit door in the summer.
The Uruguayan would be available on a free transfer as his contract expires at the end of June, although the question remains whether Inter could agree on salary terms with him.
Suarez currently earns a net of €7.5 million at Atletico, and while it would be expected that this would drop wherever he signs, it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri could find the right offer to convince him.
