Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has positive for COVID-19.

This is confirmed by the Argentine national team in a tweet from their official account, where they state that the 24-year-old will not be in squad for their two World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for the international break.

Martinez had been called up to the Albiceleste’s squad for their qualifiers against the likes of Ecuador and Venezuela along with his Nerazzurri teammate Joaquin Correa.

However, the striker has pulled out after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus, and it remains to be seen how long he will have to isolate for or when he will return to Inter.

So far, it is not stated whether Martinez has shown any symptoms from the virus, and it will remain to be seen what effect that it will have for him.

Inter will hope to have the striker back fit and healthy with important matches in their Serie A run-in on the horizon.
