Inter striker Lautaro Martinez could be back in training as early as Saturday once his period of self-isolation is over.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that after testing positive for COVID-19, the seven-day period of isolation could be done with as early as the start of the weekend.

Martinez had been set to join up with the Argentine national team on Sunday, but a positive COVID test has meant that he has not travelled, as officially announced by the Albiceleste yesterday.

The striker’s withdrawal from international duty means that he will be able to work on the training ground during the international break, though not before he goes through the mandatory period of isolation following a positive COVID test.

If the 24-year-old is to back in training it will initially be on his own, as the rest of the team will have three days off over the weekend.
