Italy boss Roberto Mancini may choose to rest players that are involved in the Serie A title race when the national team play against Turkey, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
As has been reported by Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, via FCInternews, Italy and Turkey will have to play each other in a game that is only useful in regard to the FIFA ranking of the two teams.
Italy were beaten 1-0 by North Macedonia on Thursday night which means that the Azzurri will not be at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Turkey were beaten 3-1 by Portugal so their dreams are over as well.
To help teams like Inter, AC Milan and Napoli who are involved in a very heated title race this season, Roberto Mancini may not use players from those three squads so they can have a rest and do not get injured and impede their seasons.
