Inter wingback Robin Gosens is ready to push Ivan Perisic for a starting spot on the left, possibly as early as their Serie A clash with Juventus on Sunday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the German is fully ready to cement a place for himself within the team.

Gosens was signed from Atalanta during the transfer window with the idea of being the long-term successor to Perisic on the Nerazzurri’s left flank.

The 27-year-old arrived still carrying a long-term injury which had ruled him out of a large portion of the season with La Dea, but by the beginning of March he was ready for his return to action.

This month, Gosens has been phased into the team with several substitute appearances and has given fans a glimpse of what he’s capable of.

Now, however, with another month of training and tactical preparations with the squad and coach, the German looks more ready to play an important role in the run-in of the season, which he could do as early as this weekend.
