Former Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro feels that the Serie A title race is between AC Milan, Napoli, and Inter, and that the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win the title.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Cannavaro gave the view that the Scudetto race will go down to the wire between the three sides in the top three places.

Inter, Napoli, and AC Milan are separated by six points, though the three teams could be separated by just three should the Nerazzurri win their game in hand.

Given how close the trio are, even a point or two could very realistically be enough to settle the destination of the Serie A title, and the teams will feel that every match could be decisive, especially where they fail to take three points.

Cannavaro feels that the situation is finely poised, and that any mistake could shift the balance so the team with the fewest missteps will come out on top.

Asked about Napoli’s title chances, he said “The same as Milan and Inter, I would also like to say Juve, even though it is difficult to come back against three teams in Italian football.”

“The season is in the hands of these teams,” he went on, “whoever makes the fewest mistakes will take home the Scudetto.”
