Former Inter defender Marco Andreolli feels that the Nerazzurri may have completely changed the complexion of their season with their 1-0 win over Juventus yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, Andreolli highlighted the significance of the three points gained to the team’s Serie A title charge and to their overall confidence for the season.

Inter will have felt that even a draw would not be a good enough result to keep pace with Napoli and AC Milan at the top of the table, and that only a win would really allow them to keep their foothold in the Scudetto race.

It was not an easy win by any means, but the Nerazzurri held out and took home three points after a dogged display to preserve a clean sheet and 1-0 win against one of their most formidable rivals.

Andreolli felt that “This win was needed. A victory in Turin after ten years. Difficult, nervous, complicated match – there was a lot at stake.”

“At stake were three huge points, almost saving their a season,” he added. “Inter managed to take them home. Everyone sacrificed a lot, they closed the spaces well. Inter played the game we would have expected from Juve.”
