Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that the team secured an important result in very difficult circumstances by beating Juventus 1-0 at the Allianz Stadium.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 22-year-old emphasized that the victory over the Bianconeri is especially important given the strength of their opposition.
Inter knew that they were facing, at least on paper, their hardest match left in Serie A right away upon returning from the break when they travelled to Turin, and so it proved.
The Bianconeri pushed high up from the opening minute to try and force mistakes and get into dangerous positions, and the Nerazzurri were unsettled and never looked to be the team in control of proceedings.
Inter bent, but did not break, as Bastoni and his teammates preserved a precious clean sheet to take three vitally important points back to Milan.
“Winning here is never easy,” he said, “they really gave us a hard time. Unlike other games where we’ve suffered less, here we suffered more, but thanks to Handanovic as well we managed to keep a clean sheet.”
