Simone Inzaghi’s future as Inter coach has never been in any doubt, and this is only further confirmed by his team’s 1-0 win over Juventus yesterday evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that both the club and Inzaghi are more confident than ever that their journey together should continue.

Inzaghi had come in for some criticism for the manner of his team’s slump in form from the beginning of February onwards, taking just seven points from seven in Serie A and exiting the Champions League to Liverpool.

The main criticisms levelled at the former Lazio coach were that he was not showing enough tactical versatility and had perhaps run out of ideas, and that the winning mentality and ruthlessness had seemingly left the team.

Both Inzaghi and CEO Beppe Marotta clearly rebuked suggestions that the coach’s future could be at stake in their comments prior to yesterday’s match against Juventus, however.

Both acknowledged that there have been struggles and bumps in the road, but also chose to highlight the positive developments especially in light of reserved expectations last summer.

The coach then guided his team to a gritty win in one of their most difficult matches of the season, and now all the doubts about his future seem to have been cast aside.
