Juventus head coach Max Allegri feels that his team are completely out of the Serie A title race after their 1-0 loss to Inter at the Allianz Stadium.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, the Bianconeri boss admitted that there’s virtually no chance for his side to claw their way back into the race, and named the Nerazzurri as the likeliest team to go on and win it.

Juventus had always looked unlikely to win the Scudetto after their stuttering start to the season, but they had appeared to have given themselves hope in recent weeks by having the best form in the league.

The Bianconeri made up enough ground to be just a point behind Inter, and had the chance to go ahead of the Nerazzurri in the table temporarily and also keep the pressure on AC Milan and Napoli had they won.

Instead, Allegri’s men fell further behind Inter and the two teams at the top as they huffed and puffed but were unable to break down the Nerazzurri, and now a Scudetto victory seems highly improbable.

“I think that from now on we can say that we are definitively out of the race for the Scudetto, and we have to think about holding onto fourth place,” the coach said. “We’ll think about the Scudetto in the upcoming season.”

He also named the Nerazzurri as favourites for the title, pointing out “Just look at the fixture list. Sure anything can happen in football, but they’ve gotten past an important hurdle tonight.”

“In my opinion they will have an injection of confidence and will be the favourites,” he concluded.
