Inter captain Samir Handanovic never had any doubt about saving the shot from Denis Zakaria during the second half of his team’s 1-0 win over Juventus on Sunday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the Nerazzurri captain explained that he quickly saw the deflection on the Swiss midfielder’s long-range effort and was able to react to it.

Inter were defending with their backs to the wall for long periods during the second half of their clash with the Bianconeri, and they largely managed to successfully restrict their opponents to shots from distance.

One of these shots came in from Zakaria, and the midfielder’s effort was made potentially much more dangerous by the fact that it had a big deflection which made its trajectory unpredictable.

Handanovic had to stretch to tip it behind the frame of the goal, but as he explained he was able to watch it all the way.

“Maybe you missed it, but I didn’t,” he explained when asked about the deflection. “Every player must give something to win these kinds of matches.”
