Inter are once again the favourites to win the Serie A title based on their fixture list and the fact that they have control of their own destiny.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note how the complexion of the Scudetto race has changed in favour of the Nerazzurri.

Inter had established themselves as favourites to defend their Scudetto crown earlier in the season, but a miserable run of form in February and March saw them relinquish their advantage to have to chase AC Milan and Napoli.

After the first two round of fixtures back from the international break, the Nerazzurri are no longer in a position where they have to rely on any other results, as they will be guaranteed of the Scudetto should they win all their remaining matches.

This is no guarantee, of course, with there being no genuinely straightforward matches in the Italian top flight.

However, compared to the fixture lists of their main rivals, and compared to the matches which they have already played, the last seven matches to go do look relatively kind.

For these reasons, the Gazzetta sees Inter as having their fate entirely in their own hands and once again front-runners for the league title.
