Former Napoli midfielder Davide Dionigi believes that Inter are the favourites to win the Serie A title again, but that the league is more balanced now.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Dionigi gave the view that the Nerazzurri are the team best-placed to win it all but that it’s become harder for one team to stand out clearly from their rivals in Serie A.

If Inter are to win the Scudetto this campaign, it will not likely be anywhere near as comfortably as they did last time around, with the title race set to drag on possibly until the last matchday or two of the season.

Several teams at the top end of the table have had very strong periods as well as lapses in form, and this has meant that with just a month left to go in the season not one team has really pulled away from the others.

Dionigi attributes this to the financial situation in the league which prevents any single team from really decisively strengthening.

“Due to the technical and economic crisis, the level is becoming more balanced,” he said.

As far as the Scudetto race he said that “It isn’t easy to say, there was a moment when Inter seemed to be favourites, then Milan, Napoli for a bit, and now the Nerazzurri again. Today I would say that Inter are again favourites.”
