Former Inter goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca has said that the pass from Ivan Perisic put Ionut Radu ‘in jail’ before the error that led to Bologna’s winning goal, according to a report in the Italian media.
Speaking during an interview with Il Resto del Carlino, Gianluca Pagliuca explained that as far as many fans are concerned, Ionut Radu will go down as the man who lost them the Scudetto if AC Milan win the Serie A title this season.
“Radu made a conspicuous mistake and in the eyes of the Nerazzurri fans. If things go wrong, he risks going down in history as the one who lost a Scudetto.”
He then sided with the Romanian goalkeeper by blaming Ivan Perisic for the throw-in that put him in danger with Nicola Sansone nearby.
“His teammates certainly did not help him: with that throw-in it is as if they had put him in jail. Perisic was not supposed to send it towards the goalkeeper, I understand Stefan de Vrij was nearby, but whoever takes the throw-in must calculate that there is also the goal in that direction.”
He then added that the same mistake has been made recently by Gianluigi Buffon and Michele Di Gregorio in Serie B and blamed it on the insistence amongst coaches to play out with the ball from the back.
“Fortunately, it has never happened to me to make such a sensational mistake but I saw that the same mistake made by Radu in the last weekend of Serie B was made by Gigi Buffon with Parma and Michele Di Gregorio with Monza. This desire to play out from the back is becoming an exasperation.”
