Legendary former AC Milan, Inter, and Real Madrid midfielder Clarence Seedorf believes that Serie A has benefited from the neck-and-neck title race between the Rossoneri and Inter.
Speaking to Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Dutchman gave his thoughts on the title race and argued that it has made the season more entertaining.
Serie A has looked less predictable than ever this season, with all of Inter, Milan, and Napoli have looked like favourites to win it all at points during the season while the likes of Atalanta, Juventus, and Roma have even looked like serious contenders.
Now it looks all but certain that one of the two Milan clubs will win it, with the Rossoneri having the advantage over the Nerazzurri with a two-point gap and the head-to-head advantage with three games to go.
However, things are still unpredictable and all to play for, and Seedorf is a fan of the excitement that this has added.
“From the beginning, Inter have always looked like the favourites because they have the most competitive squad and are Italian champions,,” he said.
“Now, however, Milan are on par with the Nerazzurri, in an excellent position to win the Scudetto after so many years,” he continued.
“This duel is a positive for the entertainment value,” the former midfielder added, “in Spain, Germany and France everything has been decided for weeks, while in Italy it’s still fun to watch.”
Looking ahead to the Coppa Italia final between Inter and Juventus, Seedorf predicted that “It will be an interesting match to watch, because it’s between two great teams who so far have given us three hard-fought matches.”
“Inter have won two,” he continued, “and I imagine Juve have a great desire for revenge.”
