Former Juventus, Palermo, and Wolfsburg defender Andrea Barzagli believes that both Inter and Juventus will be treating the Coppa Italia final as one of the key matches for their season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, Barzagli emphasized the significance of the match and also predicted that the winner will be decided by which of the two teams makes fewer errors.

The Nerazzurri have the chance to win the Coppa Italia for the first time in eleven years when they face Juventus in the final on Wednesday, while the Bianconeri have the chance to continue their dominance of the competition.

Even with the past couple seasons not having gone their way, the Bianconeri won the competition last season and will be hoping to put a positive note on an underwhelming campaign yet again this time around.

For Inter, the trophy would represent important progress under coach Simone Inzaghi and would build momentum in the Serie A title race with AC Milan as well.

“Wednesday’s match comes at the end of the season,” Barzagli said, “it also depends on the energy levels of the players, there’s already been the Supercoppa match, which Inter won, so it’s another trophy that can be important for Juve, but at the the same time is important for Inter, including for the rest of the season.”

“In a one-off match, the team who makes the least mistakes, who has the right mindset and also has the strength to play in finals, knowing how to manage them, will win,” he predicted.
