Inter President Steven Zhang is pleased with what the team has accomplished in winning the Coppa Italia this season, and wants to build on this success going forward.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Zhang emphasized the importance of making this success a springboard for the future.

The Nerazzurri needed a dramatic comeback and extra time to get the better of Juventus, having already seen plenty of memorable and dramatic moments to see off Empoli, Roma, and AC Milan to reach the final in the first place.

However, in the end the Nerazzurri showed that they can produce in the key moments and deliver something tangible for the overall strong season that they’ve had for much of the campaign in the form of a trophy at the climax of the season.

The President complimented his team for the achievement, and also stressed that he does not want to let the team’s level drop from this.

“We feel very satisfied with the results that Inter are achieving,” he said. “And tonight’s win is another step that we’ve taken forward.”

“But we”re still very hungry, it’s never enough,” he was keen to stress. “We want to continue to win and build on these six years of work.”

He said that “When I arrived here Juventus were the strongest team on the pitch and also off. We’ve grown along the way.”

“The goal now is to remain at this high level next season as well,” Zhang said.

The President gave the view that “Victory in the Italian couple is proof that we’re doing an excellent job and that the direction we’re going in is the right one.”
