Inter will sign one out of Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani or Bologna midfielder Jerdy Schouten during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the pair are the Nerazzurri’s two targets to back up Marcelo Brozovic for next season.

A midfielder with the right profile to deputize for Brozovic is one of Inter’s main priorities for the summer transfer window, and Asllani has emerged as their top target.

However, especially as interest comes in from the Premier League for the 20-year-old, they are aware that they could be priced out of a move for him.

Accordingly, Schouten has been lined up as an alternative target, as the Dutchman’s performances for Bologna over the past couple seasons have marked him out as a player with the right qualities to provide a real backup to Brozovic in the Nerazzurri’s squad, something currently lacking.
