Inter are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji, but only as a backup option to their main target, Torino’s Bremer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that Bremer remains the first-choice priority, but that the Nerazzurri are tracking Akanji in the event that they miss out on the signing the the Brazilian.

Akanji was reported yesterday to be a target for the Nerazzurri, with German news outlet Bild claiming that he is on their radar and that they would be ready to make a significant financial investment in the Swiss international.

The 26-year-old, whose contract with Dortmund expires at the end of June 2023, could be an attainable target, and he is a player whose profile Inter admire very much.

H0wever, the priority as ever remains getting a deal wrapped up with Torino for Bremer, with whom Inter have had a personal agreement for some time, and Akanji would only be a backup option in case they miss out on him.
