Italian journalist Luigi Garlando believes that the signing of Kristjan Asllani from Empoli is no less significant for Inter than the more high-profile signing of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Garlando underlined his reasons for thinking that the 20-year-old could be a key signing for the Nerazzurri because he adds depth to a key position.

The return of Lukaku looks to be by far the biggest deal that Inter have done this summer, especially from outside of the club, but in reality the club have been very busy in the transfer market and have made several targeted signings that are meant to strengthen the team concretely.

The arrivals of players like Andre Onana, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Raoul Bellanova certainly add something to the squad, but for Garlando Asllani’s signing may be the one which really gives the team something that they did not have during the season just gone.

“Marotta’s challenge begins with the goal of retouching the team in order to greater emphasize their superiority over [AC Milan] which certainly exists on paper,” he writes.

“In this sense the arrival of Asllani is no less important than that of Lukaku, because, without Sensi, Inter paid the price for Brozovic being irreplaceable last season,” he continues.
