Legendary former Juventus goalkeeper and captain Gianluigi Buffon believes that Inter and Juventus are the two teams who are best-poised to win the Serie A title next season.
Speaking to Turin-based newspaper La Stampa in an interview published in today’s print edition, Buffon named the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri as the two teams who have greater quality than all of their rivals in next season’s race for the Scudetto, with Juventus the favourites..
Inter narrowly missed out on the title last time around, whilst Juventus secured fourth place despite a very rocky start to the campaign.
Champions AC Milan as well as the likes of Napoli, Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Atalanta will all have at least half an eye on the title, but for Buffon the strength of the squads after the transfer window seems to indicate that it will be the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri who are best-equipped to win it all.
“I see Juve and Inter ahead of everyone else,” he said, “with the Bianconeri slightly favoured. And then Milan just behind them. I think they were also a bit behind last season, but they did well and gave their all.”
