Inter are close to agreeing a new deal with Nike that will be worth around €25 million per year, more than doubling the value of their present agreement.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the negotiations between the Nerazzurri and the US-based company are close to arriving at the new deal for five to eight years.
Inter’s current partnership with Nike is worth around €12.5 million per season, having been raised to that amount from a fixed amount of €4 million following the increase in the club’s brand value following winning the Scudetto.
The ten-year deal signed under former President Erick Thohir in 2014 had been worth the modest €4 million per season with a lot of the value of the deal tied up in add-ons, as the Nerazzurri had been far from Europe’s elite during that time.
However, recent seasons have seen Inter’s performances on the pitch steadily improve, and the club have been expecting a significantly improved deal with Nike that would reflect that fact.
After the Nerazzurri pushed for the improved deal in recent negotiations, they are now poised to agree a deal worth around €25 million per season.
