Inter can hardly get a deal wrapped up for Torino defender Bremer soon enough from the perspective of coach Simone Inzaghi.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the coach will be anxious to get to work with the 25-year-old on the training pitch as his defensive options currently look very light.
Inzaghi lined up the team with an ad hoc back three of Danilo D’Ambrosio, Federico Dimarco, and Matteo Darmian in yesterday’s friendly draw against Monaco, as this was the best that he could do with what he had.
Key starters like Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni will soon get back to their best to improve the situation, but with Milan Skriniar headed towards the exit door amid transfer links to Paris Saint-Germain, this will not be enough for the coach.
The sloppy defensive performance in the first half against Monaco showed that Inzaghi’s system cannot function when the preparations are not adequate, and he will be keen for reinforcements.
Bremer has been the priority target to bolster the back three for months, but he remains a Torino for the time being as negotiations with the Granata reportedly ramp up.
Inzaghi will be hoping to have the Brazilian at his disposal sooner rather than later so that he can really put his stamp on the player tactically and go into the start of the season with the strongest possible defensive setup.
