Inter are considering moving for Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji as a Plan B option after missing out on Torino’s Bremer, although he could prefer a move to the Premier League.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 27-year-old has been offered to the Nerazzurri and they are interested, but that his high wages could make a move to the English top flight more probable.

Inter are reeling after missing out on top target Bremer who is on the verge of joining Juventus, but they will look to sign a defender nevertheless.

Swiss international Akanji is a player with a similar profile to the Brazilian, and he has declined to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund, which currently runs out at the end of June 2023.

Akanji turned down a deal worth €3.5 million net per season, around €500,000 higher than his current wages, and so he would not likely be able to earn what he and his representatives are seeking at Inter.

However, should the 27-year-old come down on his wages, the Nerazzurri are ready to move for him as a Plan B to Bremer.

The Swiss international has also been offered to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, which would be likelier destinations should they move for him as they would be more able to meet his wage demands.
