Former Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi believes that Inter are the favourites for the Serie A title next season, and that Juventus are the closest to them in contention.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Argentine gave his thoughts on the upcoming Scudetto race.
Inter will be looking to do one better than last season when they finished as runners-up in the Serie A table, and reclaim their Scudetto crown from the 2020-21 campaign.
They will hardly be without competition, with city rivals AC Milan high on confidence and having proven their quality by marching to the title last season, whilst the likes of Napoli, Roma, and Atalanta among others will believe that they can do something special.
Meanwhile, despite having endured two disappointing fourth place finishes in a row, Juventus have had a strong transfer window and will hope to get back to the top of the Italian top flight, and Lavezzi sees the Bianconeri as Inter’s main rivals.
When asked who he considers to be the favourites, the former forward named “Inter still, and then right behind them would be Juve.”
