Italian agent Claudio Pasqualin believes that Torino owner Urbano Cairo managed to get the biggest fee for defender Bremer by dealing with the situation and selling the player to Juventus rather than Inter.
Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Pasqualin gave his thoughts on the Bremer transfer saga and also praised Inter CEO Beppe Marotta for managing to bring back Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.
Torino owner Cairo never made any secret of the fact that he felt that Inter’s offers for Bremer were not enough, and it was widely reported that the Granata owner was hoping that other clubs would come in and offer more for the Brazilian who had been named as the best defender in Serie A last season.
A number of clubs did show interest but were always turned down by the player, however Cairo always made his stance clear and in the end got what he wanted as the 25-year-old is headed to Juventus for a significantly larger offer than Inter had ever put on the table.
“Inter were targeting him, that’s a fact, and they won’t be pleased with the surprise ending,” Pasqualin said. “But the transfer market’s like that, there’s not much to say.”
“Juve entered onto the scene late and made a compelling case,” he said. “You can rack your brain to find imaginative solutions, but in the end Cairo played his game and in the end if you want to get it done you need to show the money.”
Pasqualin then said that “The return of Lukaku was the initial big bang, it was a masterpiece of financial alchemy by Marotta. A brilliant and unexpected signing.”
