Ex-Fiorentina Sporting Director Oreste Cinquini: “Hope Nikola Milenkovic Stays At Fiorentina, For Me Milan Skriniar Remains At Inter”

Former Fiorentina Sporting Director Oreste Cinquini is hoping that Nikola Milenkovic will remain at La Viola rather than moving to Inter, whilst he expects that the Nerazzurri will keep hold of Milan Skriniar.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FirenzeViola, Cinquini gave his thoughts on the possibly interlinked futures of Milenkovic and Skriniar this summer.

Milenkovic has been on Inter’s radar for much of the summer transfer window, with the 24-year-old having particularly come to their attention when it looked as though they could lose Skriniar who was a major target for Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, the Slovakian looks very likely to stay at Inter, and it remains to be seen whether they would consider a move for Milenkovic to reinforce the defense alongside Skriniar, or whether they have only ever been interested in the Serb as a like-for-like replacement on the right of the backline.

Cinquini gave his thoughts on Milenkovic, stating that “He’s proven himself to be worthy of playing for a top club, like Fiorentina themselves.”

“From now until September 3 there will be opportunities for him to move, but for Le Viola it would become a problem if they were to lose him now,” he continued, “as he would be more difficult to replace.”

“Balance is needed in view of their debut in the league as well as in Europe,” he suggested.

“I hope that Milenkovic will stay at Fiorentina,” Cinquini stated. “I would add that, for me, Milan Skriniar will remain at Inter, and that Juve will sign a midfielder in addition to Pogba, these things can play in the favour of Milenkovic staying.”
