Inter’s performance against Lyon in yesterday’s 2-2 friendly draw appeared to be that of a team who are close to being ready for the season, with the exception of some lax defending.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri showed that they’re on track and where they need to be at this stage of their preseason preparations.
The results of preseason friendlies are less important than what’s seen on the pitch, and in this respect Inter used yesterday’s match as an opportunity to get minutes in their legs at an increased intensity from their prior friendlies.
The team looked sharper than they had against Lugano, Monaco, or Lens, with the coordination between the midfield, wide areas, and attack looking to be clicking into gear with the start of the season just a couple weeks away now.
The one notable exception to this was the defense, with the back three looking troubled by Lyon’s attack all night, and in this respect there could be one major cause for concern to be resolved in what remains of the preseason.
