Lyon forward Rayan Cherki feels that the French side started off well in their 2-2 friendly draw against Inter on Saturday evening but then dropped off as the Nerazzurri grew into the game.

Speaking to French broadcaster Canal+ after the match, the 18-year-old gave his reaction to the way that the match had gone, with Lyon taking a 2-0 lead before Inter clawed their way back and things finished 2-2.

The results of preseason friendlies are always less important than the performances, and in this respect the clash between Inter and Lyon was something of a mixed bag for both teams.

Both managers will be reasonably happy with the overall sharpness on display, but Lyon boss Peter Bosz will be more pleased with what he saw in the early going whilst Inter’s Simone Inzaghi will have been more impressed with the way his players responded to early difficulties.

Cherki scored Lyon’s second goal before the Inter comeback started, and stated that “We had a good first half against Inter. We started well in the first ten minutes of the second as well. Then, I think we lost balls too easily.”
