Italian journalist Luca Marchetti has provided an update on Inter’s stance regarding the transfer interest in defender Milan Skriniar and wingback Denzel Dumfries.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the Sky Sport Italia journalist explained that now the Nerazzurri’s priority for the coming days is to keep hold of both of the pair rather than making a big money sale.

Despite anticipation at the beginning of the summer transfer window that Inter would cash in on one of the highest-value members of their squad, so far no such big name sale has taken place and it looks increasingly likely that none will.

There is still interest in both Skriniar and Dumfries particularly, with the duo having been the subject of some speculation over the past few days particularly relating to the interest of Chelsea, but according to Marchetti Inter want to see both of them remain when the transfer window closes.

“Inter are playing on the defense now,” he said, “Sanchez’s departure was expected and there have been discussions in recent weeks to figure out what the severance pay would be.”

“Now Inter need to see how much the interested will be ready to offer for Skriniar and Dumfries,” he continued, “but their will is to keep both.”

Marchetti noted that “The sales of Casadei and Pinamonti are being evaluated, but Inter do not want to lose control of the two young players’ futures, especially Casadei.”

“Inter are working on sales, or rather on avoiding the sales of the big names unlike last summer,” he explained.
