Former AC Milan and Lazio fullback Giuseppe Pancaro believes that Inter are the main threat to the Rossoneri defending their Serie A title from last season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Pancaro named the Nerazzurri as the team most likely to challenge Milan for the Scudetto ahead of Juventus and other rivals.

With the beginning of the Serie A season just a week away, attention will really start to be turned to the top sides in the league, with a few major contenders for the title.

Milan will have to be considered among the favourites considering that they proved themselves with their triumph last time around, whilst the Nerazzurri had not been far off, finishing just two points behind their city rivals.

Inter have strengthened during the summer transfer window, whilst others like Juventus and Roma have also used the summer as an opportunity to add quality, but in Pancaro’s view it is the Nerazzurri who pose Milan the biggest threat.

“Milan’s number one rival is Inter,” he argued, “as they were last year. Juventus have moved well, but Pogba’s injury and above all the sale of De Ligt ware heavy blows.”

“Napoli have lost some quality,” he continued, “whilst Roma have strengthened, and Lazio have had a solid transfer window.”
