Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is aiming for the team to beat the goal-scoring record that the team had set during the 2019-20 season under Antonio Conte during the upcoming campaign.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri coach believes that if the team can notch more than the 113 goals scored during that season across all competitions then they can fight for trophies.

Conte had turned Inter into a very prolific attacking unit during the 2019-20 campaign, with striker Romelu Lukaku leading the team for goals whilst numerous other players chipped in regularly.

Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri had hardly been lacking for goals during the coach’s first season in charge, having had the strongest attack in Serie A last time around.

However, with the former Lazio coach now having Lukaku at his disposal as Conte did, he feels that they can do better, and is targeting 114 as the magic number, as he expects that they can do better than they did under Conte.

Apart from Lukaku, the form of Lautaro Martinez who has beaten his tally season on season since he arrived at Inter in the summer of 2018 is something the coach expects to help the team to the total.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in midfield and the goals and assists of Denzel Dumfries who could be at his best over a full campaign rather than needing an adjustment period as with last season are also routes to Inzaghi’s ambitious attacking goals.
